Can I upgrade my system in the future if my requirements change?
Yes, you can upgrade your package according to your new requirements. However, it does depend on whether the required wiring is already installed in your home and which model you have installed. Contact Home Director Support for more information.
I have two satellite receivers; how many cables should I run from the satellite dish to the Network Connection Center?
To connect two receivers, you’ll need to run two RG6 cables from the satellite dish.
Can I connect my DVD, VCR, cable, satellite, and in-home camera so I can view them all in the same room? I also want to transmit the satellite signal through my whole house; can I do that in conjunction with this?
Yes, you can watch all of these in the same room and still send the satellite signal throughout your home. You will need to install a diplexer and a modulator. If you also want to send your DVD and VCR signals throughout your home, you’ll need a multi-channel modulator.
How many modulators do I need? Do I have to install one on every device?
You must install a modulator on every video device you want to transmit throughout your home. You can purchase single-channel modulators, one for every device, or you can purchase multi-channel modulators that can accept up to four devices.
How can I increase the number of ports in my telecom module?
To increase the number of telephone locations, you add a Telecom Expansion Module on the Telecom Unit tray. For each module you add, you increase the number of telephone locations by 8, up to a maximum of 32. (You can not add Telecom Expansion Modules to either the Starter Pack SP01 or SP03.)
How do I connect a Telecom Expansion Module?
Plug in the Telecom Expansion Module into the existing Telecom Unit, lining up the jumper pins appropriately with the last telecom module. Fasten it to the tray using the provided screws. Then attach the faceplate by snapping the black pins into the Telecom Unit.
Do you have to run wires all over my house to give me a security system?
No, with today’s technology, mini wireless transmitters can be used with
almost any device to make a clean, wire free installation.
What if I have pets?
Today’s technology allows advanced detectors to tell the difference between pets and humans.
